My wife is my very own personal worship leader. This is great; I don't have to buy an iPod. Since we live in Nicaragua, she's always asking me for Spanish and Miskito lyrics to the English songs she knows and loves. When I go online to the different lyrics translation websites, however, I'm usually disappointed with what I find. Some of them are simply bad Spanish, others with way too many syllables per line, and almost all of them lose the lyricism of the original poetry in English because they confine themselves to a literal, word-for-word rendition. I'm sure I can do better.
I tried to register on one of those websites a few minutes ago so that I could share my efforts with the world, but it didn't work, and on second thought I decided, "You know what? I'm a little scared of all those user restrictions they make you agree to, like some INTERPOL agent's going to appear at the door of my hut in the swamp and drag me away if I make a mistake, so I'll just post my translations on my own blog and if anybody likes them better than the ones you find on lyrics.com, well, you're free to use these. No restrictions. As I have freely received, I must also freely give.
