In November, we roasted over 800 lbs of coffee at our Vero Beach roasting room. In December we sold all that at Christmas craft fairs on Maui, Farmer's Markets in Florida, and at Elizabeth & Alexander's Tea Room in Bothell Washington.
We introduced "Personalized Labels" as a Christmas gift, and we will continue that as a regular part of our "Fun With Coffee" program.
We also introduced two new premium blends to the Coffee Menu: "Los Dos" and "It's Morning". Los Dos combines our Nicaraguan Medium roasted coffee with our Nicaraguan extra dark. It is an amazing combination which was inspired by our friend Jon Hamilton, the director of Christian FM.
Not only is Jon a good guitar player and Bible teacher, he is also a GREAT coffee taster. His "Hamiltonian" blend is quickly becoming a favorite among our clients. Jon is pictured here with his best friend Tammye.
Out second blend was inspired by our friend Antonio Patrice Elias Babatunbe Assaf,
who is a Irishman who
grew up in Nigeria. Tony is very familiar with Middle Eastern culture. Here he is aboard Fred the camel near Jericho. (Fred later excaped from his owners and wandered out onto a minefield along the Jordanian border- very sad!)
Tony was looking for a blend of coffee that the average joe would really enjoy as his morning cup...one that would not be too overpowering with distinct sharp flavors, but that would be soft and smooth.
So we combined a light roasted Honduran coffee with our dark roasted Nicaraguan with the sabilizing element being our medium roasted Sumatran.
When it came to putting a name on this morning blend, we decided to say "It's Morning!". Our friend Tracy Borscheller gave us the image for the label.
Tracy is a GGGGOOOODDD friend and we thank her for the unrestricted international usage rights that she give us for this image......
A third blend is now in the works and being perfected by master coffee taster Michael Remedios. We call it "Nico- Africano.
It is a combination of Ethiopian medium roasted coffee along with our Nicaragua Dark. Mike is finetuning the roast on each, and expects to have the FINAL receipe in a few weeks.
Mike is pictured here in a tasting session in the desert (of his living room in North Carolina) with co-taster Maik. IN fact, Mike and Maik have been on the cutting edge of Rio Coco Bean Tasting since the inception of the business in 2004.
Stay tuned for more Coffee News.
